Annual Students Seminars on Contemporary Issues- Annual Students' Seminars are held consistently every year on contemporary issues where the students put forward their points of view for the audience. The best three speakers among the presenters are selected by a Judge and they are rewarded accordingly to motivate them for the future. The topics chosen for the seminars till date are as follows-

Model United Nations (MUN)- Model United Nations (MUN) is a popular extracurricular activity where students act as delegates to the United Nations. MUN conferences are held at all levels of education, and help students develop skills in public speaking, writing, and research. They also help students learn about the UN's role in world affairs, and the diplomacy involved in UN decisions.
1. The Department in collaboration with IQAC has held a workshop on Model United Nations (MUN) in collaboration with Jadavpur University Debating Society (JUDS) to introduce to the students the rules and procedure to participate in a MUN.
2. Anjan Dey and Avishi Rajdan from the Department of Political Science (class of 2021-2024) participated in Jadavpur University Model United Nations (JUMUN).
Student centric activities and programs beyond the classrooms- The Department believes in putting forward a practical approach to studying along with theoretical ones. So the Department arranges different programs for the students. Some among them are as follows-
1.A delegation of students participated in a day-long workshop titled “Let's SWAG! Salute Women Across Generations” organised by Observer Research Foundation (ORF) on 08.03.2024 to commemorate International Women's Day.
2. A delegation of students participated in a two-day long Youth Policy Conclave to commemorate International Youth Day on 12.08.2024 and 13.08.2024. Kaustav Chakraborty presented a paper titled “Gender Gap in Education” at the segment titled “Student Pitch: Policy, Praxis and Pathways”.
Experiential activities- The students are provided experiential learning ability that is to study by experiencing, participant observation and feeling. Some workshops conducted are as follows:
1. A day-long tour of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalay was organised on 22.03.2018 along with a panel discussion on “The Role of Youth in promoting Communal Harmony”. This was followed by a quiz contest for the students.
2.A two-day workshop titled “Mapping Neighbourhoods: A Study of Daptaripara” followed by a walk at Daptaripara on 29.08.2024 and 30.08.2024 to study the lives of the Daftaris and the old book binding industry of Kolkata.
