D. Sk. Makbul Islam obtained the D.Litt. degree in 2015 for his research on “Comparative Folklore: Appreciating Bengal-Odissa Cultural Relation” from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisa. He worked under the supervision of Professor Surnedra Nath Dash - the then Head of Odia Department.
